Why S.O.A.R. Coaching?

The mission of S.O.A.R. Coaching is to help women of color discover the leader they are, the leader they want to become and develop the skills to close the gap between the two. S.O.A.R. is an acronym for Surmounting Obstacles And Reigning. Our goal is to help women of color overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of their ability to achieve professional goals. Through developing their presence and portfolio, women serving in mid-management roles can get on track and prepare for their executive position.

Through leadership coaching, S.O.A.R. Coaching facilitates engagement to provide an effective program to develop and advance women of color. In the Emerging Executive Coaching program, participants are guided through our signature framework, A.C.T.I.V.E., which stands for Authentic, Creation of Truth, Integrating, Vision and Empowerment. This framework consists of seven modules, including private 1-on-1 coaching and group relationship building. When a woman completes the coaching program, she walks away with an understanding of herself as an individual and leader, as well as the ability to sharpen the skills needed to become an executive.

Women of color work twice as hard, and in many cases, with more education and training than their counterparts. They are expected to take on more responsibilities but are often overlooked or ignored for leadership and executive positions. Research shows women of color want to climb the corporate ladder to take on senior leader and executive positions; however, they are still struggling to make it into this elite group. To shatter these glass ceilings, women of color have to be very clear about who they are (skills, talents and abilities), how they show up in the workplace (level of power and influence), how others perceive them (both peers and leaders) and how to be comfortable being authentic. S.O.A.R. Coaching believes that no matter how smart you are or how many degrees you have, people choose you because you bring something personal and unique to each person or organization you touch.
